Goals

My goal is a work in progress. I know I need to grow to be more comfortable with technology and including it in my lessons. I find it hard to make it a regular part of my lesson plans. I feel like in first grade the real fundamentals should be hands on, but technology can be used to enrich this learning.

My goal is to use technology, such as smart boards and computer programs, to enrich my students learning, even when it is out of my comfort zone. I need to learn it is ok if every lesson doesn't run as smooth as I like it to. Some students may get more out of these lessons than those done just in the classroom. Just because it doesn't feel comfortable to me, doesn't mean it isn't what is best for the kids.

Digital Citizenship

To inform our students of the importance of digital citizenship, I plan on showing them the Little Red in CyberSpace book on Tumblebooks. I will send the links provided home in an email to my parents and explain the importance of them reviewing the information to their children.

Getting Started

I have used journals in the past, but I hope to use them to their full potential this year. At this point, I have set up a math journal and a reading response journal. I see definite room for improvement in both of these journals. My math journal is more of a resource right now, which I know is ok, but I want my students to get more out of this.

I hope to use the WILT/WILY idea in the near future too.
